I realize I never mentioned to past students who may have known my dog Cooper. Cooper passed away on April 18th of this year. He will be missed, but his memory will live on!

Technical Dificulties

Last night my computer crashed and so I am a bit behind on the 3D Gimp instructions.....

As an alternative assignment.... I would like you to try some of the games. Originally my alternative plan was for you to try bridge builder but I cannot figure out how to get the game out of the zoom mode. Bonus for the person that can create a 3D image!!!!!

Extra Credit Ideas

Extra Credit ideas.

• Collage

The Student will complete a technology collage about some area of technology that interests them. 11" x 17" size suggested (any type paper or cardboard acceptable) or develop a Google document and cut and paste pictures if you wish. Yes this can be done online on your Google Drive account

• Written Report

Write a one page, typed or hand written report about some form of technology.          

The student can choose an article about any form of technology that interests them. They may research the article in magazines and on the Internet.

• Technical Articles (10)

Review 10 articles about new technologies and write about them. Emphasise how they will change how people interact in society.  The articles can be from the newspaper, magazines or the Internet. This can also be done on your Google Drive Account.

Create a 3D image using GIMP. We will call it Gimp 3D.  I would like for you  to watch a video through once before trying to make a 3D drawing.  Here is the link  Gimp 3D

Week 6 May 8-12 Creating a CD Cover

Creation of a CD and CD cover.
Only OA was the Million Dollar Question......If you came into the money what would you do with it and.....just to see how much money a million is ......if you had a job that paid you $20/hr and you worked 40hrs/week how many years would it take to make that million?

To make a music playlist we obtained our music from Youtube and used a secondary website called Offliberty.com.

Then to make a CD cover... we obtained an image from the Internet....downloaded a CD template from Google Classroom project #53. (size to fit page in Word). We opened word and placed the photo in it. We had to unlock the image to move and resize. Some students added text by using the WordArt portion of Word.

The goal was to create a music CD for our Moms for Mothers Day which was Sunday May 14th this year.

This week the class will venture into the world of "GIMP".

GIMP an acronym for (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, resizing, cropping, photo-montages, converting between different image formats, and more specialized tasks.

To introduce the software you will be doing a few projects.

 Color Me

In this project you will take a photo of yourself using "photo booth" Import the photo into Gimp.

• Colors - Threshold - adjust image using the black triangle in the dialogue box. Select done to save changes.
• Tool Box - using the "pencil" with the size of 'one'. Make lines where needed.
• Tool Box - Select the "Paint Bucket"  A dialogue box will appear. Select color and pour the paint.

Using an image of your choice - Input into GIMP and be creative using some either some of the tools from the past two days or explore with something new.

 Palm Tree

 In this first project you will be given a photo a palm tree and modify the image with several different effects.

• Colors - Hue Saturation (remember to click OK before next step)
• Tool Box - smudge tool 
• Effects- Light and Shadow - 
• Gradient and or Super Nova Effects - Artistic - Van Gogh 

When ready to save the modified image select "Export". Make sure your image is saved as a JPG or PNG.

Project 45.

Take one photo from the Internet place it on your desktop. From your desktop place it into an iMovie timeline 7 times. Modify the five of the pictures using the  "Filter" Keep the first and last in original condition. Set all photos to one second. Add a title at the beginning and end, add music to the video. Transitions are up to you.  Render to iTunes, Post to blogger.

Week 3 Jan 23-27

Week 3

This week we will be creating a video called PHOTO SHOOT. In this video we will be adding 10 different types of photo shots to the video 3 x each. I am asking that you get the different photos from the Internet.


Second project will be getting the same type of photo of shots from your camera. Yes that means you need to go out into the community and take some photos. Use your friends and have some fun. Once you have your photos you will need to upload them to your computer and place into iMovie.

Week 2 Jan 16-20

During this week we will be creating two projects.

First you will be making a black & white video with 10 photos you download from the Internet.

Second, you will be downloading 80 minutes worth of music and create a CD for yourself.
